Your main responsibilities

Work with product managers to determine requirements, articulate user needs, and translate those needs into concepts and elegant interface designs.
-
Work with engineers to deal with technical constraints for projects.
-
Develop and maintain interaction models, user flows, wireframes, screen designs, prototypes and specifications as needed.
-
Ensure design consistency across all platforms and products, and collaborate with fellow designers to constantly refine Salv design language.
-
Communicate the thinking and deliverables to stakeholders and implementers clearly and convincingly.
-
Educate fellow team members about the purpose, process, and tools of research and design.
Your profile
People-y skills
-
You can work on your own, but also know when to reach out to fellow team members for help, advice, and support.
-
You have strong communication skills. You speak and write clearly.
-
You’re flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn.
-
You’re constantly pushing yourself to improve.
-
You keep your cool under pressure. You take charge in challenging situations and you keep your composure if things get tense.
Research-y and design-y skills
-
You understand that the job of design is to serve our customers. You enjoy speaking with real people about their complex workflows.
-
You are curious about our business and the whole area of financial crime fighting and AML. We don’t expect you to be an AML expert, but we do expect you to learn some basic things. Have no fear– we have many friendly experts who will help.
-
You have experience working as a UI/UX or product designer, ideally in enterprise/B2B.
-
You have used various design tools, and have opinions about them. We currently mostly use Figma and Miro.
-
You have a portfolio showcasing previous work.
-
You know what all of these words mean, and have done many of them as part of your work: interaction design, user research, usability testing, visual design, information design, interactive prototyping, accessibility.
-
Not strictly required but a plus: you have a relevant university degree in human-computer interaction, interaction design, graphic design, industrial design, or software engineering.
What does success look like after 6 months?
You have built something
-
You have spent time with customers and learned about their workflows and current struggles with Salv product and other tools.
-
You have applied this knowledge to design a new feature for a Salv product.
-
You have collaborated with engineers to get this feature built, understanding both the engineering and design sides of our interface toolkit (and modified the toolkit if needed).
You have grown our team
-
You understand the character, tools and projects of other designers, and can cover for each other if needed.
-
You have established yourself as a valuable partner to Product Managers and engineers.
Location
Tallinn or Tartu, Estonia. You should be able to make a regular appearance at one of these cities, and participate in our team events a few times a year (mostly in Estonia).
What do we offer?
Beat financial crime.
You’ll be a part of — hopefully — making the world a better place for everyone.
Early-stage options
Besides a competitive salary, every member of our team will get options. Of course, there are never any guarantees that we’ll succeed. But if we do — and that’s how we’re betting — they could be worth a lot.
Freedom, interesting challenges & learning opportunities
As in every small growing company, there are many hats that need wearing in the beginning, but as we grow, you'll have opportunities to focus on your favorite career tracks, including leadership. You’ll have freedom, but you’ll also have the responsibility that comes with it. You will make – and own – a lot of decisions. You need to figure out the best solutions for our customers. Get ready for a lot of challenges that need tackling.
Incredible team
Our team is full of mission-driven, kind-hearted people who love learning and big challenges. Some who have proven they can make awesome things happen in organizations like TransferWise, Skype, Pipedrive, and more.
Remote-friendly work
Although almost all of our team is currently located in Tallinn or Tartu, we often work from other places. Which is part of why you can choose when and where you work, as long as you have an impact on customers and are aligned with the team.
Positive chaos
At Salv, you won’t find corporate BS. You won’t find bosses who dictate what to do. And we hope you won’t find boring roles with inflated titles. Salv is just a place where you can make the right things happen.
